چکیده
Over the past several years eating disorders among children and adolescents have significantly increased. Research has shown that depression anxiety are highly comorbid with disorders. However, it is unclear if improve weight restoration. Among patients Anorexia Nervosa (AN), there mixed literature in regards to improvement of restoration limited data adolescents. The current longitudinal study aimed (1) examine change body composition, anxiety, over time (2) relationship between composition anxiety/depression a population AN. Our sample included 63 (ages 11-20 years-old) (any subtype including Atypical) from multidisciplinary disorder clinic. Baseline follow up visits were approximately 4 months apart. Parents completed PROMIS short forms as part clinic visit. A repeated measures t-test for dependent means was used evaluate changes baseline follow-up. Linear regression analyses run assess (body fat percent, visceral fat, skeletal muscle mass, BMI percentile) scores. Gender related patient-report measures; therefore, gender associated linear models covariate. There significant increases all visit one two (p <.001 variables). Parent-reported adolescent = <.001) 0.003) scores decreased time. Patient-reported =.035) patient-reported (p= .035) also showed decrease Additional an increase patient percentile parent-report (β -.281, p 0.040) -.271, 0.050). none other anxiety/depression. Additionally, no any depression. suggests although do course treatment, only their adolescent’s symptoms percentile. Although parent may feel remitting restoration, possible not experiencing this symptom reduction degree parents report. These findings support need separate treatment after cannot be expected solely remit based upon alone.

Body composition changes in female adolescents with anorexia nervosa.
BACKGROUND Body weight provides limited information about nutritional status of patients with anorexia nervosa (AN). OBJECTIVES Our objectives were to determine body composition (BC) changes, to find clinical predictors and endocrine correlates of total body protein (TBPr) depletion, and to compare results on fat mass (FM) obtained with anthropometry (skinfold measurements) and dual-energy X-...
متن کاملRegional body composition in adolescents with anorexia nervosa and changes with weight recovery.
BACKGROUND Studies of regional fat distribution in adults with anorexia nervosa (AN) have shown decreased extremity fat at baseline and increased trunk fat with weight recovery, resulting in truncal adiposity. Little is known about fat distribution in adolescents with AN, especially with weight recovery. OBJECTIVE We sought to determine whether regional fat distribution in adolescents with AN...
متن کاملBody composition in female anorexia nervosa patients.
For the first time, body composition has been studied in a very large sample of female anorexia nervosa patients (n 200) using two methods: anthropometry (skinfold thickness) and densitometry (underwater weighing). The concurrent validity of both methods appeared to be good (r 0.84). Although the mean percentage of body fat (13.5) in our sample corresponds with most of the previous reports, the...

BACKGROUND Although the effect of immediate weight restoration on body composition and body fat distribution has previously been studied in anorexia nervosa (AN), its influence in women with AN on eating disorder psychopathology and psychological distress has not previously been investigated to our knowledge. OBJECTIVES We assessed body composition and fat mass distribution before and after b...
متن کاملLongitudinal Changes in the Physical Activity of Adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa and Their Influence on Body Composition and Leptin Serum Levels after Recovery
OBJECTIVE Patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) are often observed to have high levels of physical activity, which do not necessarily diminish after a successful therapy. Previous studies have shown that body fat tissue recovery in these patients is associated with a disproportional restoration of the adipocyte hormone, leptin. Therefore, we wondered whether the individual variation in physical a...
